About Us

OUR STORY

CECOFA started in 2004 under the name Nsangi Coffee Farmers Association. To reflect our business orientation and integration of more farmers, we changed our name to CECOFA (Central Coffee Farmers Association) in 2016.

The Association is involved in coffee farming, bringing farmers together, guiding them towards improved farming practices, helping them to access and maintain markets and technical empowerment through training. Besides coffee, the Association undertakes several other income generating activities like piggery and poultry farming.

About Cecofa

OUR VISION

Alleviation of poverty through market based sustainable agricultural practices and to have a permanent coffee farming industry through the youth and old farmers by 2020.

Our Impact

Youth Project (Youth in Coffee)

imge3

CECOFA, partner of the Progreso program, is a producer organization committed to the improvement of the living conditions of its members. Aging farmers and lack of interest of the young generation in coffee production is a very important issue for the sustainability of the coffee sector in Uganda.

We encourage the youth to maintain coffee farms using games and sports as the entry point. Each year, we organise several football tournaments between our coffee farming groups.

Care for Environment (Micro Organism)

The association trains farmers in various environmental protection activities like tree replanting programmes, soil protection and organic agriculture.

CECOFA Provides free Training to her members. Our Farmers undertake training on good Agricultural Practices and this keeps them focused on their coffee farms since under this all farmers are taught diversification thus they carry out poultry, piggery and dairy farming also as to get daily incomes.

Women Project (One Craft, One Tree for Women

We put special attention on women through training and effective involvement in coffee farming as a business. Our women make crafts to raise capital for coffee plantlets.

Our farmers are also trained on how to Cup test their coffee, this improves the quality of coffee since each farmer fights so hard for her coffee to have the best flavor and aroma.
